Pain Management

How can hypnotherapy help you

Many people suffer in silence with chronic pain and it can be a complicated issue that is hard to treat. There are many causes of long term pain and whilst it is important to seek medical advice and treatment, for some people complimentary therapies used alongside traditional treatments can help make you feel more relaxed, reduce the pain or help you to sleep better.

The mind and body are often linked when it comes to pain, and for people suffering from long term pain, you can suffer from additional problems such as stress, depression or anxiety, and can make your pain feel worse! It is important to look at and explore these issues at the same time, to ensure your health and well-being.

Hypnotherapy can help you deal with these issues and feelings, and help you refocus your mind away from the pain and onto something more pleasant using visualisation techniques or teaching you how to "turn down" the pain levels.  Before seeking hypnotherapy for your pain it is important that you have sought medical advice first to ensure that nothing has been missed.

Management

If you experience pain on a regular basis it is important to try and not let it control your life, and you take ownership of it! If you do let it take control your body can stiffen up and over time lose strength.  This can also affect your mood and sleep.  Try to stay as mobile as possible and do gentle exercise such as walking, yoga or swimming.

Support

If you have a chronic pain condition,  you don't have to go through it alone. Seeking medical and therapeutic support, using  the medical profession can help you to practically manage your condition, while mind-body therapies like hypnotherapy can help manage related symptoms and change the way you cope with the pain
